The Task Force prepared the Action Plan for Reducing, Controlling, and Mitigating Hypoxia in the Northern Gulf of Mexico, which describes a national strategy to reduce the frequency, duration, size and degree of oxygen depletion of the hypoxic zone. The plan was submitted as a Report to Congress on January 18, 2001. Currently, the Task Force is charged with reassessing the Action Plan and is holding their 15th public meeting to seek comment and concurrence on the draft Action Plan to be released for public comment.
