The event has been traditionally held in Cuba since 1999. This year the goal is to achieve a greater exchange with regional specialists concerning the problems that affect the environment and its natural resources. Emphasis is dedicated to wetlands and harmful algae, although other thematic areas are accepted: Biodiversity, Mangroves, Tourism, Toxicology, Environmental education, Pharmacology, Databases, Community and gender, Coastal management, Trophic balance and fluxes, and Modeling.
