-The ecosystems and resources which require integrated management
- The trilogy of ecological/economics/social system
- Science meeting the needs of coastal management and sustainable development
- Policy as an instrument for governance of the coastal zone in the Gulf of Mexico
- Integrated management of coastal areas with conflict interests (lowland agriculture, urban expansion, tourism, port activities, oil and gas industries, natural protected areas, fisheries)
- Case studies in US and Latin America
